A religious complex in the Northern region of Mewar which was built in the 734 AD is the house to 108 temples which were aesthetically chiselled with minute attention to details. Nathdwara

48 kms from Udaipur, Nathdwara was built in the 17th century. According to historical legends, the Vaishnavite Shrine was built exactly where the Lord himself wanted it to be built. When the image of Lord Krishna was being transported via a cart to keep it protected from the wrath of invader Aurangzeb, the wheel sank deep all of a sudden. It could not be taken out inspite of plenty of efforts. The spot was deemed as the place, Lord Krishna wanted his temple to be constructed and that’s how Nathdwara came into existence.

Haldighati

Towards the South-West of Nathdwara, the land witnessed the biggest battle ever fought between Maharana Pratap and Akbar in 1576 AD. The sand of this huge terrain which got covered with blood is enough to send chills down our spines. Haldighati is also known for the loyalty and sacrifice of Chetak- Maharana’s horse who sacrificed his life and remained dedicated to Maharana till his very last breath. While you visit Haldighati don’t forget to catch a glimpse of the ‘Chattri’ made of white marble which is a tribute to both fortitude and valor of both Maharana Pratap and Chetak.
